Phakalane Estates Breaks Ground On Bodulo Apartments

Bodulo Apartments Ground breaking
  • Bodulo Apartments, nestled in Peto Estate, to see 84 units for home buyers
  • Project delivered in collaboration with Bohua Construction, leveraging partnerships and mutual passion for progress to deliver the dream

In working to deliver the next phase of the Phakalane Estates vision, the organisation today, the 31st of January 2022, broke ground on Bodulo Apartments. Nestled in Peto Estate within the Phakalane suburb, Bodulo Apartments will feature 84 contemporary residential units, constructed over 8 separate blocks across a 9,000 sq meters (approximate) piece of land, kicking off the next chapter of the Phakalane story.

The groundbreaking ceremony saw Phakalane Estates Group CEO, Subramaniam Parthiban, and guest of honour, Stanbic Bank Botswana Chief Executive, Chose Modise, officially kick off proceedings for construction to commence. A number of long-term stakeholders and partners have been engaged to make the project a reality, including experienced local firms already well-reputed in the industry. This includes but is not limited to Bohua Construction, LWA Architects, FTM Consultants, Valluvan, Akheel Jinabhai and Associates, and Digital Surveys. Selling agents including PAM Golding, Seeff Properties and Phakalane Properties have been engaged, andArchitects, Structural Engineers and Electrical Engineers respectively appointed.

Said Subramaniam Parthiban, Group CEO of Phakalane Estates, “This is a great moment indeed, on the back of our 30th anniversary as an organisation. This is simply another chapter in the Phakalane Estates story. We have always planned to develop residential units, indeed for a number of years. In the past, we have constructed and sold +/- 12 houses in the Phakalane Golf Estate and a couple of them even outside the Golf Estate. We have worked on a few multi-residential developments but had not officially brought these to fruition, and so in 2019, we actively focused on this and planned for it in Peto Estate, the sister Estate to the Phakalane Golf Estate.”

Conceptualised pre-COVID-19, the pandemic had substantive impact on the project’s progress. With City Council approvals now granted, the project is ready to continue full steam ahead.

True to its name (“Bodulo” meaning “residence” in Setswana), Bodulo Apartments boasts 39 one-bedroom units and 45 two-bedroom units. The apartments will be modern and contemporary in style. Based on nuanced architectural design, the property sees the finest aesthetics and finishings, in keeping with the appeal of Phakalane.

Continued Parthiban, “We’re pleased to once more work with so many brilliant stakeholders to bring this project to life.  Bohua Construction, for example, has been in Botswana for the last 32 years and have done a few construction projects with us before. They held discussions with Phakalane for joint developments and towards the end of 2019, joint development agreements were executed for us to work together. Collaboration for progress, job creation and shared vision are very much at the heart of what we are doing here, all in line with our desire to deliver the dream for those looking to call Phakalane home.”

The project is expected to be completed in 14 months.
