We were more than thrilled to capture the Botswana national bird; the kori bustard putting on a good show for our cameras during our recent travels to Chitabe Camp in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. The Kori Bustard is Africa’s heaviest flying bird and can weigh up to 19kg. It is said, the English naturalist, William John Burchell described the kori bustard in 1822. The specific epithet kori is derived from the Setswana name for this bird – Kgori.
