Stanbic Bank Botswana Appoints Mmoloki Letshwao As Head Of Risk

Stanbic Bank Botswana is pleased to announce the appointment of Mmoloki Letshwao as Head of Risk.

Mmoloki, who has served as the Bank’s Head of Internal Audit since 2015, is already a member of the Country Leadership Committee (CLC) of the Bank and now takes on a new mandate to lead, manage and deliver an integrated and independent Risk Management Function.

“We celebrate this appointment as a testament to the strong leadership development efforts within the Bank that will effectively support our clients. With an in-depth experience in the audit and risk space, we are confident that Mmoloki’s new role will enable him to continue to drive and influence a proactive risk culture for Stanbic Bank Botswana, a goal which we believe will effectively enhance the bank’s risk conduct. This is paramount towards supporting delivery of our robust and ambitious Letsema 2025 strategy,” said Stanbic Bank Botswana Chief Executive, Chose Modise.

Mmoloki joined Stanbic Bank Botswana in 2015 as Head of Internal Audit, a role he has held for 8 years, leading the Audit function under a mandate from the Board Audit Committee (BAC).  He was instrumental in driving Stanbic Bank Botswana’s Internal Audit strategy, having established and led an effective audit function that provides independent and objective assurance and advisory services to add value and improve the operations of the Bank. He also played a crucial role in the development of the combined assurance model of the business and in all areas of governance, risk management and the internal control environment. In 2021, Mmoloki was seconded to a Business Manager role for the Africa Regions Head of Audit for one year, an initiative under Standard Bank Group Internal Audit people development. Here, he was involved in strategic initiatives at Group level aimed at maintaining a future-ready Audit function to meet required global standards.

With over 19 years of experience in the Audit field, 11 of these were as Head of Audit (Executive) positions within the financial industry. Mmoloki has held roles at BancABC (now Access Bank), LEA, Bank of Botswana and Letshego Group, having begun his career training at Deloitte. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting Degree from the University of Botswana and is a member of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) and the Global Institute of Internal Auditors (GIIA). He is also a Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMLS).
