Wilderness Rwanda has officially opened Magashi Peninsula, an exclusive new safari retreat on a private peninsula within Akagera National Park.
Managed by African Parks in partnership with the Rwanda Development Board, the retreat offers guests a chance to explore one of Rwanda’s most stunning savannah landscapes.
Designed for privacy and understated luxury, the camp features a central guest area, a four-bed villa, and two standalone suites, all set 150 – 200 metres apart. Guests can enjoy in-villa dining, private guides, Star Beds for open-sky sleep-outs, plunge pools, and panoramic views of Lake Rwanyakazinga and the surrounding plains.
Magashi Peninsula blends low-impact architecture with locally inspired interiors, handcrafted details, and natural textures, reflecting both the landscape and Rwandan culture. The camp’s culinary experiences highlight local produce and support nearby communities, while conservation efforts include predator monitoring, ecosystem management, and education programmes.
Guests can explore Akagera’s rich wildlife, from elephants and giraffes to rare antelope, rhinos, and tree-climbing lions, through private drives, water-based excursions, rooftop stargazing, and curated wellness experiences.
According to Manzi Kayihura, Wilderness Rwanda Executive Director, “Magashi Peninsula is a celebration of purpose, beauty, and resilience. Every stay contributes to protecting one of Africa’s most remarkable wilderness areas.”
