As the countdown to the 2nd Annual Botswana Sustainability Week begins, industry leaders, stakeholders, and the public are invited to join a pivotal event focused on advancing sustainable business practices across Botswana. Scheduled to take place from the 8th to the 10th of July 2024 in Gaborone, this high-impact event will provide invaluable insights into Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices, fostering a greener future for Botswana. The sustainable event shall be co-hosted in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism as a key stakeholder.
In recent developments, Green Loop ESG Consultants, in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), hosted the first Open House in collaboration with Sessions in the Loop at the UN headquarters in Gaborone. This initiative marks a significant step in their build-up campaign towards the Botswana Sustainability Week and Sustianable Journalism awareness for local media stakeholders.
Modise emphasised the crucial need for the media’s involvement in the reporting ESG matters, noting that the fourth estate often lags in this domain as result of limited access to information. She expressed gratitude towards the media for their essential role in disseminating information and amplifying marginalized voices.
Furthermore, United Nations Resident Coordinator, Mr. Zia Choudhry, encouraged local organizations to benchmark against global standards and highlighted the media’s role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As we approach this landmark event, stakeholders and the public are encouraged to participate actively. The Botswana Sustainability Week promises to be a catalyst for change, driving forward the nation’s commitment to sustainable development.
