Every employee at Standard Chartered has three days of volunteer leave annually and staff are encouraged to give back to their local communities by engaging in activities that can aid and communities in need
Giving back to society goes beyond the relationship between volunteer and recipient. It connects the whole Bank to the society and it’s a privilege to play a part in this. While driving commerce in our markets is how we do business, building sustainable social impacts in our communities is why we do it. This applies to all the markets where we operate.
Standard Chartered employees have been dedicating Fridays as the official volunteering day and planned a variety of initiatives including volunteering at the Botswana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA), litter picking in partnership with the Gaborone City Council around the Main Mall and surrounding areas, mentorship and motivation of Form 3 students at Linchwe Community Junior Secondary School and tree planting at primary schools in Gaborone and surrounding areas just to mention a few.
During the remaining months of 2022, Standard Chartered will continue to encourage volunteerism and develop opportunities for employees to share their unique skills and expertise. Projects such as Futuremakers Botswana by the Standard Chartered Foundation, our global initiative to tackle inequality and promote economic inclusion, provides opportunities for mentorship, training and volunteering.
