GABORONE – As part of its unwavering commitment to create solutions that are tailored to the community, Stanbic Bank Botswana today launched Unayo, a new and innovative services platform. Unayo is designed to connect businesses and people with mutual financial interests and connects communities and businesses to help them grow.  The solution is completely digital and accessed via mobile devices.

Said Stanbic Bank Botswana Head Consumer and High Net-Worth Client Segment, Portia Motshegare, “We understand that people and businesses are working relentlessly to reach their dreams and we firmly believe that dreams matter as they are the flames that power the future. That is why we partner with you, taking uncharted paths together, paths that lead to growth. Every day, we are inspired to find new ways to make dreams possible, for you. Unayo is indeed a platform that benefits both businesses and communities, providing a single hub for economic activity. This innovation is demonstrative of our Purpose: Botswana is our home, we drive her growth. True to its name “Unayo,” which means “You Have It”, or “O Na Le Yone” puts the power in your hands to improve your financial wellbeing and ensures you are part of a growing and thriving economic ecosystem.

Unayo is available to Citizens as well as Foreign nationals and is accessible through self-registration using USSD (*200#) or by downloading the app through a mobile phone. Unayo is accessible to everyone through all mobile networks in Botswana. Users can open a personal or business account as well as upgrade their profiles to add merchant functionality, allowing them to facilitate transactions on behalf of other customers and earn commission.  Building a sustainable merchant network that empowers the communities and gives customers more convenient ways to access their funds.

Unayo also supports bulk disbursement, whereby funds can be sent to multiple recipients. If the recipient does not have an Unayo account, funds will be received via an SMS voucher; if they do have an Unayo account, the funds will  automatically be deposited into their Unayo account.
