Award Winning Zambian Hip-Hop Artist Will Tour the US and Canada in a 14 City Tour Ending with Performances at Coachella

(New York, NY) Zambian hip-hop artist Sampa the Great kicked off her long awaited first North American tour Monday, March 28th at The Foundry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fresh from winning her fourth ARIA, Sampa is embarking on a 14 city tour that will take her across the United States and into Canada for shows in Toronto and Montreal. Sampa will end the tour in California with her final performances being at Coachella.

Born in Zambia, raised in Botswana and now living in Australia, Sampa the Great released her first mixtape, The Great Mixtape, in 2015 and followed with the EP “Hero’s Act 2”, a collaboration with UK singer Estelle and Grammy winning producer Rahki. In 2017, Sampa garnered even more international attention with her highly acclaimed mixtape Birds and the BEE9, a blend of hip-hop, neo-soul, gospel and jazz with no-holds-barred politically conscious lyrics. By the time she released her first full length album, The Return, in 2019, Sampa the Great was already known around the world.

In 2020, Sampa became the first artist to ever win the Australian Music Prize twice, she was the first woman of color to win the hip-hop category at Australia’s ARIA Awards, and in 2021 Sampa along with Wezi, Tio, and Ben Blazer became the first Zambians to be nominated for a Grammy Award when she was nominated as a feature artist on Angélique Kidjo’s Grammy nominated album.

Most recently, in January, Sampa was announced to perform at Coachella. Her North American tour will make its way from the East Coast, Canada, and the Midwest to the West Coast ending at the highly anticipated festival, which is making its first full two weekend return since 2019.
