Orange Botswana Ends the Year with The Return of the Exciting Orange FA Cup Tournament

• Orange FA Cup Season 2 Quarter Finals returns with a bang with only 8 teams remaining

• Orange Botswana is committed to growing the football fraternity in Botswana

The long wait is finally over as the treasured Orange FA Cup tournament returns.  The second season of the Orange FA Cup came to an abrupt halt during the quarter final stage in March 2020 after the Government took the decision to suspend sporting activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Orange Botswana in partnership with the Botswana Football Association (BFA) have taken the decision to resume the exciting tournament. It is to continue from the stage where it ended, with only 8 teams remaining until the final match.

The 8 remaining teams comprise: Township Rollers, Gaborone United, Jwaneng Galaxy, Notwane, Masitaoka, Calendar Stars, Police XI and BR Highlanders.

Said Orange Botswana Chief Marketing Officer, Mr. Yves Famien, “The Orange FA Cup is known and admired for its nomadic culture of taking football to the people. It is a true display of talent, regardless of the teams’ popularity or experience. Sport is increasingly becoming an industry of importance towards economic diversification; therefore, there is a need to nurture and empower those whose dreams are tied to such sports. At Orange Botswana, we are committed to doing more in the football space through this sponsorship asset and the return of Orange FA Cup is the realisation of that passion. We are committed to supporting this passion and we are excited for the thrilling season 2 quarter final of the Orange FA Cup. This is an incredibly exciting time!”

Orange Botswana’s commitment to developing local football remains unwavering. In previous years, the business also sponsored platforms such as Orange Kabelano Charity Cup, Orange Phikwe National Marathon and has been the official Zebras National team sponsor ahead of their historic and maiden appearance at the AFCON Finals. As the economy and communities now open – albeit with the relevant safety protocols – we look forward to football bringing us all together in spirit and in heart once more,” concluded Mr. Famien.

Our partners at the Botswana Football Association will continue to guide how we can safely return to the field and ensure that Covid-19 protocols are adhered to and all the necessary precautions are being taken to protect the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved.
