Gaborone, 1 August 2022. On the 27th of July 2022 the Government of Botswana announced that it will reduce the value added tax (VAT) rate by 2% from 14% to 12% effective 3rd August 2022 for a period of 6 months. The reduction of the VAT rate is part of a package of measures put in place by the government to cushion the impact of rising global inflation on households and the economy. In line with this recent adjustment MultiChoice Botswana announces a reduction on the prices of its packages to reflect the 2% reduction in the VAT rate, on the 3rd of August 2022.

Beginning 3rd August 2022, the new monthly subscription prices for DStv packages will be as follows:

The new reduction in subscription prices also extends to additional services which give customers more value-for-money, such as the Showmax Add-to-Bill option which allows DStv subscribers to add their Showmax monthly subscription to their existing DStv bill, giving Premium subscribers free Showmax viewing and those on Access, Family, Compact and Compact + a discounted price of P47. “We wanted to make it easier for our subscribers to enjoy the breadth of binge-worthy content available on Showmax easier by allowing them to add Showmax to their bill. Fans of trending content such as The Wife can look forward to Behind the Veil, an 8-part special featuring the sizzling Mzansi drama’s cast, a front-row seat to the ever-controversial Kelly Khumalo on Life with Kelly, and the highly anticipated tell-all from entertainer Somizi Mhlongo’s ex, Mohale Motaung when Mohale: On the Record premiers on the streaming platform on 4th August,” adds Legwaila.
DStv subscribers can look forward to the New Football Season which launches on the 5th of August 2022 when the Premier League kicks off with Crystal Palace vs Arsenal at 21:00 CAT and the La Liga season which starts on 12th August 2022 followed by Serie A on 13th August 2022. SuperSport will be showing all 380 Premier League matches on SuperSport Premier League 223, 760 games from La Liga on SuperSport La Liga (224) and 760 matches of Serie A with DStv customers getting access to games depending on their various packages.
