Mascom’s 3-For-3 Impacts Communities Across Botswana With 40+ Impact Projects

More than 40 community projects were delivered across over 20 locations this weekend as Mascom employees, partners and community volunteers came together for the sixth edition of the company’s flagship 3-for-3 initiative.

From refurbishing classrooms and sports facilities to planting trees, supporting healthcare facilities, empowering young women and helping protect elderly citizens from cyber scams, the nationwide programme mobilised communities across Botswana around a shared commitment to creating positive change.

Speaking at Moeding College during the Are Bueng girl empowerment programme, Mascom CEO Dzene Makhwade-Seboni said the initiative reflects the company’s belief that every individual has the power to contribute to stronger communities. “The Mascom 3-for-3 was born from a simple idea: that every Mascom employee has skills, knowledge and experiences that can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others,” she said.

“Seeing more than 40 projects taking place across Botswana at the same time is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together around a shared purpose. Beyond the projects themselves, what makes 3-for-3 special is the spirit of service, collaboration and community that it inspires.”

Projects delivered this year focused on education, technology, environmental sustainability, health and community development. Across the country, employees partnered with schools, clinics, dikgosi, local authorities, community organisations and other stakeholders to address needs identified within their communities.

Highlights included the refurbishment of school infrastructure and sports facilities, road repairs, digital learning and technology initiatives for young people, environmental conservation and clean-up campaigns, anti-scam awareness programmes for elderly citizens, support for healthcare facilities and the A re Bueng empowerment programme for Form Five girls.

Makhwade-Seboni said 3-for-3 continues to evolve while remaining firmly rooted in its original purpose. “3-for-3 is ultimately about the future of Botswana. It is about recognising that positive change happens when individuals choose to become active participants in building stronger communities. Whether that means mentoring a young person, improving a learning environment, protecting the environment or sharing knowledge, every contribution matters.”

She added that the success of the initiative would not have been possible without the commitment of Mascom employees and the support of community partners across the country. “We are grateful to the schools, community leaders, local authorities, partner organisations and volunteers who worked alongside us. Their support demonstrates that meaningful and sustainable impact is achieved through partnership and shared responsibility.”

Guided by the purpose of Powering Connections that Inspire Change, Mascom remains committed to partnering with communities across Botswana to create opportunities, strengthen resilience and contribute to sustainable social development.
