Gaborone, Botswana — Following the official launch of UPICtv on the 24th October 2020, the streaming platform has been continuously growing towards its mandate, to empower and commercialise Botswana storytellers. The platform is also aimed towards creating an avenue for local broadcasters to reach audiences across the region and the world at large. UPICtv recently signed a strategic partnership agreement with YTV, a local broadcaster, in an effort to offer more diverse content in sports and entertainment.
UPICtv Project Manager, Mr Mahatma Ramoloko said, “being a homegrown grown subscription-based video on demand platform, UPICtv is a host to local and international content and as well as a selection of live radio and television channels. The inclusion of YTV on UPICtv will mean that subscribers are able to stream the Premier League matches on YTV’s live channel, that’s also hosted on the UPICtv platform. Our aim is to continuously position UPICtv as a central entertainment hub and export Botswana talent to the rest of the world”.
UPICtv subscribers are able to stream one live match a weekend, as well as a delayed match, through the broadcaster’s live channel. Other Premier League content available on the channel, include a highlights show and Road to Premier League documentary series. “We are excited to partner with a local streaming platform to provide relevant entertainment and contribute to the growing catalogue of content available to UPICtv subscribers, as well as provide YTV viewers a more accessible platform to enjoy our content, anywhere they may be in the world”, added Rykie Wade, YTV General Manager.
Subscribers may access UPICtv on www.upictv.co.bw at a cost of P75 per month and are able to have 3 profile per subscription. Download the UPICtv IOs and Android applications at the Play Store and Google Store to enjoy the experience.
