Stanbic Bank Botswana, Botswana Doctors Union sign MOU towards financial empowerment and growth for members

GABORONE – Stanbic Bank Botswana and Botswana Doctor’s Union (BDU) have signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement for a dedicated financial services scheme for all Members of BDU. The scheme looks to place the financial welfare of BDU members at the centre of an array of banking services support and is the first of its kind between a commercial bank and BDU.

Stanbic Bank Botswana joins the rest of the Nation in constant and eternal gratitude for doctors, nurses and all other frontline staff working to protect Batswana and keep the Nation safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. This sentiment further supported the MoU signing engagement, shared by Stanbic Bank Botswana Head, Customer Channels, Ms. Portia Motshegare.

Said Ms. Motshegare, “As Stanbic Bank Botswana, we recognise and wholeheartedly appreciate the incredible work, commitment and sacrifices of our medical community – the doctors, nurses, and other frontline staff so selflessly working to keep us safe during this pandemic and beyond. The work and significance of associations such as the Botswana Doctors’ Union (BDU) cannot be over-emphasised. They have our eternal gratitude, and we are privileged and honoured to enter into this relationship, doing what we can to further support the BDU membership.”

Through this scheme facilitated by the Stanbic Bank Workplace Banking team, the Bank offers BDU members an array of Banking solutions with the main aim being to drive home ownership and other financial goals. BDU members will be supported by the Executive Banking team for enhanced dedicated service, in line with the Bank’s commitment towards client centricity and superior service delivery, and in recognition and gratitude for the incredible role Botswa doctors and other medical professionals are playing during the pandemic.

Speaking at the event, President of the Botswana Doctors Union, Dr. Shingirai Muzondiwa said, “We are excited about this partnership and what it means for our Members, an opportunity to grow, to create wealth and to secure their futures. We thank the Stanbic Bank Botswana team for their passion and support and look forward to a bright future together. In our view, they are a bank that cares for the carers”

Concluded Motshegare, “As a bank, we are committed to helping turn the dreams and ambitions of the BDU members into reality, fueling their growth by creating wealth and a lasting legacy for them as a true financial services partner. This momentous occasion signals the start of that journey, and our commitment thereof. With Stanbic Bank, IT CAN BE, and we know this partnership will be a truly historic one that creates value for all.”
