GABORONE, Botswana, July 2020/ — Last night local celebrities and influencers alike graced the star-studded launch of a new fragrance by the duo of Keno Custom Suits; Donald Nnoto and Thobo Kerekang. Curated under the banner of Keno Scents, the perfume dubbed ‘Elevate’ was launched at Culture Cafe, Molapo Crossing and was graced by the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Peggy Serame, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Tumiso Rakgare as well as Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Lemogang Kwape including other luminaries.
Speaking at the launch last night, the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Peggy Serame said it was gratifying to see young entrepreneurs being innovative and reaching for the stars.
The duo of Kerekang and Nnoto has been working tirelessly to redeem the retail fabric industry characterised by the success of their brainchild idea, Keno Custom Suits which now has two branches countrywide in Gaborone and Francistown respectively.
When addressing the media, the business community and a select few brand influencers having observed at COVID-19 protocols, Serame said she was happy that the two’s timeline and vigor aligns well with the current government’s knowledge based economic strategy.
“These men’s work ethic has been tremendous. With their Keno Custom Suits, they already employ 16 people from their two branches and I am further told in confidence that the third branch is on the pipeline. I am further confident that their latest perfume has the potential to be a Botswana export product. This perfume has come at the right time when Citizens Entrepreneurship Development Agency (CEDA) has just reviewed its guidelines giving all Batswana an opportunity to go into business as the new guidelines do not need any collateral as was previously the case,” said Serame.
The minister also became the first person to buy the perfume at the launch thus attesting her long and unwavering support for buying local.
When sharing the synopsis and the ingredients of the perfume, Kerekang said their product is a fresh scent to the budding local market. The pintsized lawyer and businessman also said they chose the name well as all those who will wear their brand product will surely ‘elevate’.
“This scent is a fine fragrance blend, with top notes of fresh mango, pineapple and bergamot that centres around heart notes of jasmine and roses, and finishes off with a warm woody base of vanilla oak,” said Kerekang.
The perfume pressed in a 60ml bottle sells for P600 in various outlets including KeNo Custom Suits – Gaborone and Francistown, Urban Soul Apparel, Alafa Pharmacy – Main Mall Gaborone, Cyber Kopano – online store, Medicos Pharmacy – South Ring Mall Gaborone, Jago Boutique – Palapye, Perfume World – Gaborone.
