GABORONE, Botswana, July 2020/ — When Botswana and the global community went on lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many inspired individuals had a lightbulb moment and came up with several ideas aimed at bettering their lives and those around them.
Meet Segofalang Nagafela-Bibiza – a cousin to controversial media personality, Berry Heart, who has been giving her fans more reasons to log onto her social media accounts to see pictures of herself donning Berry Heart’s clothing brand and gym attire. As if that’s not enough, Segofalang has new music too.
Born in Letlhakeng in the Kweneng District and affectionately known as Sego by her copious fans, the vivacious lass is not new to music. In fact, her journey has a few accolades to her belt.
The 35-year-old was once a manager to one of the leading gospel artists, Kabelo Eric pushing him to international triumph between 2011 to 2013, respectively.
“I have always been in the industry but mostly behind the scenes. I have managed Kabelo Eric the year he got two international nominations and walked away with one. I was also responsible for the rebranding of Berry Heart.
The Berry Heart you see today was my project. I took up the role of manager and stylist, and that year she got a Presidential BOMU award for the most hard-working artist, “remembers Sego.
Not only does her background tell her vast experience in the showbiz industry, she currently has an online talk show called “Talk with Sego”, is a Berry Heart brand Ambassador, and Team Fitness Life Gym Brand Ambassador. The online show is a family-oriented show that talks about relationships and intimacy issues.
Furthermore, Sego talks about how her mutual agreement with her cousin has worked tremendously well in helping her launch her music career. As a music manager, she always knew that one day she will release her own music.
“When I was managing her [Berry Heart] we agreed the day I decide to start she was also going to be responsible for me. Management and everything the same way I did with her when she rebranded. So, we used the clothing line as a launching pad for all this. She needed a model and it was also the perfect opportunity to brand me.”
With a new single to her name dubbed “Got Carried Away” is a deep house joint ready to conquer the world.
“It’s simply a deep house song. Wrote it during lockdown because I had a lot of time on my hands and there so much people were chatting about because of boredom. I have always loved singing and writing, but I took a decision to get married and have kids first before I went out there again. So, I have been focusing on my marriage and kids until I felt now is the time.”
Quizzed about her future in the music industry, Sego oozes confidence adding that she wants to make more music, grow her talk show, and continue with her fitness lifestyle.
