GABORONE, Botswana, May 2020/ — Former dancing sensation with Vee Mampeezy, Girly of ‘Girly odi Body’ fame is set to release her first studio album this coming festive season. With the Coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc worldwide, everything has been put on hold and musicians and artists alike have not been spared.
Girly, just like her peers worldwide have lost time to work on their projects for the first half of the year and may only start working on them towards the end of the year. Officially known as Botshelo Mosweu, Girly was this week upbeat that the Corona virus pandemic will be contained and allow the world to normalise again.
Fresh off the studio, her latest new single dubbed ‘BMW’ is already enjoying multiple replays on the local airwaves and has also been widely received in the neighbouring South Africa.
“The inspiration to release this single was derived from the void I saw in the in Disco/Bubble-gum scene and wanted to bring it back. So weeks ago I got into Kolkata/Heartbeat studios and found the beat that matched my style. It’s a sample of a 80s disco song. In yesteryear, BMW matchbox models were popular with disco so the song is resurrecting those old golden memories. Music keeps evolving. The response has been massive and despite lockdown, local radio station music compilers departments have already requested the song. However for my fans who will want to have a song, there’s a download link to the song pinned on my social media pages,” said an excited Girly this week.
Quizzed about her future plans in the local music landscape, the 28-year-old Kanye born lass said the plan has always been to go international. She added that for her future album she plans to work with the likes of Prez Beatz and Tex.
Her popular singles include Dibodi, Nkatumele ft. Bouncy, Dlala ngamla, Antoziba, Bare bairang and the latest being BMW.
