GABORONE, Botswana, November 2019 — Rail Park Mall recently celebrated its 8th year anniversary in style. The mall situated in the Gaborone Bus Rank through its CSR initiative engaged five (5) Gaborone Senior Secondary Schools to partake in the mall’s 8th year anniversary by participating in an initiative dubbed ‘Rail Park Mall Bake-A-Cake Challenge’, which was scooped by Ledumang Secondary School with Gaborone Secondary School emerging runner’s up.
Last week Friday, Rail Park Mall held an award ceremony at Ledumang Senior to hand over various kitchen utensils and prizes to the school that had emerged victorious in the Bake-A-Cake challenge.
“This challenge was done as part of the mall’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) towards providing the necessary equipment and facilities which can make teaching the Food and Nutrition subject easier. In addition this could promote the confectionary industry at an early age as well take the Rail Park Mall brand out to the public,” said Keletso Sebogodi, Rail Park Mall Marketing Officer.
During the ceremony attended by Khumo Property Asset Management senior management, Ledumang Senior school headmaster, deputy head, senior teachers and members of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) as well as students, Billy Loeto, Coordinator of Partnerships at the Ministry of Basic Education commended Rail Park Mall for reaching out to its publics as well as investing in education all the time. Furthermore, Loeto encouraged students to study hard and focus on their education as it will shape their lives in future.
For her part, Khumo Property Asset Management Retail Manager, Nazly Dawood said the mall was pleased to award Ledumang Senior with prizes for having baked one of the best cakes she had ever seen, which vividly depicted the mall’s distinct and unique features.
“This year, we involved all five (5) Gaborone Senior Secondary Schools to partake in the mall’s 8th year anniversary by participating in an initiative dubbed Rail Park Mall Bake-A-Cake Challenge, which was scooped by Ledumang Secondary School with Gaborone Secondary School emerging runner’s up. This is why we are gathered here today, as Rail Park Mall, to handover the prizes that Ledumang Secondary School has won in the challenge. We must uphold the great legacy of Ledumang as a centre for excellence and Merit in academics and co-curriculum activities. Remember that Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world,” said Dawood.
