MultiChoice announces four new channels coming to DStv this November

GABORONE, Botswana, November 2019 – MultiChoice Group recently launched four new channels. These include Kids educational channel, Da Vinci, which offers informative and fun learning from 12 November on the Family package on DStv channel 318, plus CuriosityStream, CBS Justice and Euronews which will all join the DStv platform across Africa on 21 November 2019.

CuriosityStream and CBS Justice will air for the first time in Africa on DStv channels 185 and 170 respectively, to ensure fans of Factual Entertainment and True Crime stories enjoy their favourite programming on familiar channel destinations while Euronews currently available on DStv’s Compact Plus package in the rest of Africa, will now be available to Southern Africa on DStv channel 414.

This news follows the recent announcement that the company has reached an agreement with A+E to extend the carriage contract for History and Lifetime which continue to air on DStv alongside the new channels.

In October, the company hinted at plans to launch channels aimed at delivering new titles and genres that viewers will enjoy, including among others blue chip documentaries, history and entertaining factual shows.

Kids edutainment channel, Da Vinci is inspired by its namesake, ground-breaking artist, scientist and inventor, Leonardo Da Vinci. The channel, which will broadcast on channel 318 aspires to illustrate the beauty and wonders of human curiosity and its explorations, be it in science, arts or innovation. The new edutainment channel will amaze and delight DStv viewers with a range of fun educational programming for kids and whole families alike filled with humour, imagination and meaningful educational takeaways that cover Science, Math & Tech, Play & Make; History & Personalities; Culture; Life & Nature and Sports & Leisure.

Looking at some of the world’s most compelling true crime cases, CBS Justice, which is a joint venture between AMC Networks International – UK and CBS Studios International, will launch in Africa on DStv channel 170, and will feature a curated selection of original and acquired programming. The launch line up of CBS Justice will include original productions The Real Prime SuspectDonal MacIntyre’s Murder Files, Secrets of a Psychopath, Evidence of Evil; and acquisitions Cold Justice, Fame Kills and Stalker! All the cases brought in front of DStv viewers will be presented and investigated by leading experts such as Jackie Malton (The Real Prime Suspect), the real-life inspiration behind Helen Mirren’s character in the award-winning UK drama Prime Suspect, and undercover investigative journalist and professor of criminology, Donal MacIntyre (Donal MacIntyre’s Murder Files).
