Joey Mothibi’s voice once reverberated across Botswana’s Frequency Modulation (FM) spectrum courtesy of Duma FM, where he worked as a newsreader a few years ago until he left to pursue a career as a media entrepreneur. In his own words, he says he has now matured from being called a Master of Ceremonies (MC) to now becoming a fully-fledged host with the most, largely prompted by his latest corporate gigs.

“I am currently producing a TV show called Campus Focus that airs on BTV every Saturday at 1300hrs. I’m also a presenter of a radio show on RB2 Called Campus Focus. I also present the popular magazine Show titled “Our Wedding Day” that also airs on BTV! There is also a 3 – 5 minute satirical show on Social Media platforms; Instagram, YouTube and Facebook dubbed “The Neighbourhood” that I present, which airs every Monday Morning.

Furthermore I am working on a project dubbed “I Can Do It Too” which is basically training on improving Public Speaking, Reading and Writing skills,” said Mothibi recently. He is this week’s crush…

What do you like doing in your spare time?
Wow, do I really have a spare time? Hahaha! I watch a lot of cartoons coz of my children!

Who is your celebrity crush?
Megan Good internationally, Sadie Dikgaka locally. These ladies are fire boss! Both are very talented and just to die for! Yerrrrrrr

Are you single?
Hahaha but who is single in this day and age?? I mean do I even look single? No I’m not single!

How would someone get your special attention?
Compliment me! I have a weakness for positivity thrown my way! Or just being genuinely positive!


What has been your best/worst date?
Hmmmm! I haven’t been in a date in a long while! But if I recall my worst date was when this person I was seeing then, caught me whilst in another date in a place where we were both very popularly known at! Eish, it was a disaster!  That’s a day I wish I could undo! Sigh!

Would you date a fan?

What would you change your name to?
Hahahaha! I would introduce a silent “p” to my name! As a matter of a fact, from now on My name is Joey Mothibi with a silent P! O tlaa itlhophela gore o mmaya kae P wa teng!

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Negative people! I can’t stand negativity!

What’s your annoying habit?
Correcting people making errors whenever they’re speaking English! I have even corrected Makgoa and they find it annoying that I know words like discombobulated and they don’t!

Do you ever get used to being a celebrity?
Nah not even! I think it’s also because we are only warming up to the celebrity culture in Botswana!

What languages do you speak?
I also speak money language! Hahaha ok I’m kidding. Nah I only speak 2 languages English and Setswana

Where would like to visit?
Brunei, Ibiza, Honolulu, oh and the Tsodilo hills and Moremi Gorge

If you were not famous. What would you be up to?
I would be a Mathematics or English teacher

Generosity! I have the world’s biggest heart! I share shem! Even if it’s the last of what ever it may be that I have, chances are if you ask for it you will highly likely get it!
