President Masisi vows to jump

SOWA TOWN, BOTSWANA — The annual Makgadikgadi Epic just like the name says, is an epic skydiving event which took place recently, from 12 – 15 July at LAPA – Sowa Town Park. The Makgadikgadi Epic Skydiving boogie and symposium is one of the most unforgettable experiences imaginable.

Hosted alongside the salt pans of the Makgadikgadi in one of the most scenic parts of northern Botswana, the event truly is something to experience. Also present at the event was Botswana’s number one citizen, His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi E.K Masisi who vowed that come the 2020 edition, he too would take to the skies and jump.

Masisi made that startling revelation to both local and international skydivers that come the Makgadikgadi Epic 2020 edition he will be amongst the skydivers free falling from the Botswana blue skies. Probably overwhelmed by the love he received whilst attending Makgadikgadi Epic event for the first time this year in Sowa Town’s LAPA, President Masisi was thrilled to see how skydiving has grown as a sport as well as the evident turnout it has received over years.

The President’s decision to consider skydiving in the next edition of Makgadikgadi Epic said is fully inspired by his brother-in-law who is an avid skydiver.

Addressing skydivers who have contributed significantly to the growth of one of Botswana’s sporting tourism events, President Masisi urged those taking part to make sure they come back next year as well as to encourage their counterparts to visit Botswana adding that the country is not only peaceful but also offers serenity and is also a better place to skydive.

“You can be rest assured it will get better with time. As the government, we will do what you (skydivers) want and you will have the most fun in this country, we really love having you so bring your family and friends here too. We want to set pace in Africa and increasingly beat the standard globally, you don’t get anything like this, this is Makgadikgadi – world class serenity and beauty,” he concluded.
