Ever since I was a kid, just going around the ‘next bend’ on my bicycle, I have always loved the adventure of travel – the unknown, something different, something new. And I feel the same way today, even though now the ‘next bend’ may be on another continent. I have been extremely lucky to continuously feed my passion for travel. But, why do I love it so much?
I love the excitement of it all –feeling like an explorer – discovering a new land, a new language, new money and all the little challenges that go along with it. When I travel, I am more spontaneous and don’t live for the future or the past, just in the moment. Being impulsive and saying ‘yes’ to nearly everything is part of the fun.
I love the rush. Habitual runners get off on the kick-in of endorphins that give them that extra boost they need to keep going. I get the same jolt from a day of travel or an unexpected side trip to a new and undiscovered land. Traveling seems to give me a near constant adrenaline rush, hence why this year I want to check out Swaziland’s much raved and explosive three-day festival, MTN Bushfire, which every year, approximately attracts 29,000 guests hailing from 58 different countries.
This year, MTN Bushfire will host its 12th edition at the peaceful Malkerns Valley, Swaziland from 25 – 27 May 2018 and the organisers have vowed to improve on the overall festival experience with a host of new features to make the festival weekend one of seamless entertainment and fun.
The uniquely African, and yet globally infused, festival experience that welcomes thousands of people in an atmosphere of tolerance and passionate commitment to music, the arts, and the environment has been lauded by CNN as one of the “7 African music festivals you really have to see”, and named as BBC’s Top African Festival, recently announced a host of new features to make the MTN Bushfire 2018 experience as enjoyable as possible.
More than simply a music festival, MTN Bushfire is a holistic experience made up of a rich texture of arts, cultures, crafts, food markets, and specialized zones that combine to create an explosive three-day event and a memorable take home experience. The atmosphere also offers an energizing and uplifting weekend that celebrates the music and arts of Africa and beyond.
Festival Campsites Open Early
Over the last decade, MTN Bushfire welcomed a diverse mix of guests, from families with children of all ages, to those looking to party late into the night. And all MTN Bushfire guests will now be able to enjoy the festival even longer – with the announcement that all main campsites will be open from Thursday, 24 May – Now you can get in early, set up camp and relax. This new schedule will also alleviate much of the pressure at the border and traffic into the festival.
