Botswana Football Association (BFA) used their affiliation to the international football governing body, FIFA to vote for Real Madrid’s Portugal striker, Cristiano Ronaldo as the best soccer player in the world for the second year running at last night’s (Monday) FIFA’s The Best awards gala. According to BFA spokesperson, Tumo Mpatane, it was Zebra’s captain Simisane Mathumo and Coach David bright who voted for Ronaldo respectively.
“Our captain and coach voted for Ronaldo. Ronaldo has had a fantastic 2016/7 season and we can only vote for the best. He has won everything on offer and we couldn’t agree more with their choices. However, they were all independent in their selection,” said Mpatane today.
Cristiano Ronaldo has beaten Lionel Messi for the second year running at the Best FIFA Football Awards. Portuguese superstar, Ronaldo won the prestigious gong last year and has retained the prize at a gala ceremony held in London last night.
The stars of football came together at the Palladium Theatre, where a host of other awards were presented before another moment in the spotlight for the Real Madrid hero. Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud was also rewarded with the Puskas Award for his stunning scorpion kick against Crystal Palace.
