Sensational Ban-T releases 8 track EP

On the eve of Botswana’s 51st Independence anniversary, the high-riding new kid on the block, Baanthata Mokgwathi alias Ban-T unleashed into the unsuspecting market an 8-track EP dubbed Bantastic Experince. The well-attended EP release took place at The Craft Market in Gaborone where Ban-T exclusively hosted the media and artists alike for an apposite listening session this past Thursday.

The 20-year-old hip hop multi award winning sensation had invited artists, promoters, the media and industry stakeholders to sample the entire 8-track EP featuring songs such as Bankutlwe, Rollercoaster, Right now, Hacked and packed, Roll up shawty, Die for you, Validation, Shine forever including the Naomi remix.

Excited about his musical journey thus far, Ban-T said he has been working on his latest offering since last year April adding that he’s equally happy with the final product. The hip hop sensation also acknowledged the efforts of his first manager, Zenzele Hirschfeld crediting her for paving way and teaching him the ropes.

“I am extremely excited that we are here tonight for the listening session of the EP, which finally drops tomorrow on radio. I am thankful for the turn out and the support of all the artists present here today, we can only grow from each other’s support,” he quipped.

“Working on these songs was a lifestyle. Sometimes I will arrive home in the wee hours of the morning and I will find my parents waiting for me. Big up to my team, obvdo, F.A.T, Taku, Amo Beats, heartbeat sounds and VIB studios,” said Ban-T.

Ban-T’s mother, Caroline Mogotsi said the first time when her son wanted to venture into the dog-eat-dog music industry, she literally had to carry out her own research regarding this career path. Being a dedicated mother that she is to her son’s music career, Mogotsi noted that she went as far as South African music colleges so as to get first-hand information regarding her son’s chosen vocation.

Hip hop star Sasa Klaas was one of the artists who graced the listening session

“I think one incident that allowed him to do music was at a particular college where they told me that during the controversial athlete Oscar Pistorious murder case, there were incidences where a music expert was called to analyze sound, that’s when I knew it was a viable business.

However, for me I had hoped he would after graduating remain behind the scenes. He then changed his mind saying he wants to sing and I was clueless again hence why I then roped in the services of the experienced Hirschfeld after recommendations by my friend Shanti Lo. Like they say, the rest is history; we are here today for the listening session.”

No bad blood! Former Ban-T’s manager Zenzele Hirtchfeldt was all smiles for Ban-T production

Among those who attended the listening session include MMP Family, Bang Gae, Prez Beats, Sasa Klaas, DJ Cupid, Berry Heart, Shanti Lo and the corporate community among them Mercy Thebe, Solly Reikeletseng and Jojo Mogotsi. With less than 2 years in the music industry, Ban-T has won numerous awards including Yarona FM’s Best Single Male, People’s Choice Award and Best Hip Hop/Motswako.

He also has a remix of Naomi featuring Tshego and Gemini Major from Cassper Nyovest’s Family Tree stable.
