GABORONE, Botswana, 21 August 2019 – GetBucks Botswana recently joined Lapologang Primary School to help celebrate its 30th anniversary as well as its impressive 2018 Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) results (97.2%) by donating P57, 000.
The two institutions partnered last year under the Ministry of Basic Education’s Adopt-A-School initiative. GetBucks had previously donated revision books, uniforms, shoes and stationaries to the school worth around P100, 000.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lapologang Primary School Headmaster, Inspector Makhura said the school is grateful to the continuous support and generosity they get from GetBucks.
“Their contributions inspired and boosted the confidence of both teachers and students. GetBucks’ commitment is in line with government’s mandate as education plays a vital role in our country’s positive outlook,” he acknowledged.
Amongst other commitments by GetBucks include creating better learning environments and moulding future leaders. Botswana is currently looking to diversify from being resource-based to a knowledge-based economy.
For his part, GetBucks Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Marshal Chimedza said GetBucks is always looking for meaningful ways which can contribute to the communities they operate within.
“GetBucks stands for excellence, hard work and resilience. We are more than glad to be associated with Lapologang Primary School. Lapologang Primary School continues to be a beneficiary of GetBucks Botswana and we are currently in discussions for other developments in the school,” said Chimedza.
Furthermore, GetBucks is currently in partnership with a local football club, Notwane FC, he added.
“This is the company’s effort to improve the country’s sports development. GetBucks has supported other initiatives such as the Down Syndrome Association of Botswana to raise more awareness around the foundation.
