TLOKWENG, BOTSWANA — Opening your own business is often a learn-as-you-go process but the more smart decisions you make early on, the better chance your company has for success. Countless people dream of becoming entrepreneurs, but they never do. They’re burdened with excuses and fears of failing. From money to time to responsibilities, you can make a million cases for not starting a business.
Let’s face it, being your own boss is scary. In most cases, new business owners have a lot to lose with little insight into their chances of success. Worrying about the risks of business ownership is normal hence why these two best pals, Neelo Lentebanye and Thelma Oba Seitshiro braved all odds to establish their own enterprise dubbed Home Services by Oba & Nei. Their biggest motivation was having some of their relatives and friends support their star-up.
“We’re a small business that aims to help bring easy home solutions to households. We do simple interior designs, home decor, home management and general cleaning services are some of the core responsibilities of our company.
Furthermore, we help clients identify how to create space in their homes, what to buy to bring their living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms to life, some of which includes art paintings, furniture, mats, cushions and kitchen utensils. We also take it upon ourselves to look for what our clients want in the market,” said the duo recently.
Quizzed why they chose this line of business, the duo who both possess some experience in Home Management and Fashion Fabrics from their secondary school education said everyone should come to a beautiful home, and a well functioning household after a hard days’ work. “People are too busy to take care of their homes and they overlook the most important things that should be right in their homes,” said Neelo.
Furthermore, Neelo who graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts (Theatre) said as creatives, they bring a fresh and fun perspective to everything they do. She said their greatest aim is to eventually create more employment for young people as the business grows in future as well as to buy their own cleaning equipment, and expand their operations beyond Gaborone.
For her part, Thelma Seitshiro who is also a graduate in Bachelor Of Fine Arts (Theatre) said clients are always amazed by just how a simple change in color of curtains or mat can bring an effective change to everything in their homesteads.
The two are aiming two even further their qualifications in Interior Design and also expand to Gardening and Landscaping services as they desire to pursue just about everything that makes a home complete from the inside out.
