Gaborone,Botswana –Hilton Garden Inn Gaborone was officially launched today, the 5th of June 2019. The hotel opened its doors to eager Batswana, business travelers, and tourists, on the 27th of February 2019, and has now officially been unveiled not only as the first Hilton property in Botswana, but as a proudly Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund (BPOPF) investment.
Jan van der Putten, Hilton’s vice president of operations in Africa & Indian Ocean, was amongst key guests on the night, and reaffirmed what a proud moment this was for the Hilton Garden Inn brand as it expands its footprint across Africa.
Said BPOPF CEO, Boitumelo Molefe: “We are excited to have an international brand such as Hilton Garden Inn now call Botswana one of its many homes, enhancing the competitiveness of our local hospitality sector, in many ways standing proudly as a reminder of the mandate of the BPOPF: at the heart of what we do is our focus on our members and pensioners, which compels us to constantly and consistently seek solutions to meet their needs. This investment contributes wholly to that very purpose.”
Situated in the heart of Gaborone’s CBD, Hilton Garden Inn Gaborone offers 147 rooms, all fitted with the state-of-the-art Digital Key (Hilton’s mobile-enabled room key technology), outdoor pool, gym, boardrooms and meeting rooms. The hotel also features a 24/7 business center and meeting space, 24/7 Pavilion Pantry and locally infused restaurant cuisine.
“We look forward to serving our customers and putting their needs first. Our goal is to make each guest’s stay better and brighter, and therefore promise outstanding customer-service and delivery. We are also excited to be part of the Botswana’s narrative in the ever evolving and flourishing hospitality sector,” concluded Hilton Garden Inn Gaborone General Manager, Evan Harrington.
