GABORONE, BOTSWANA — Local empowerment brand, SKY Girls BW is expected to host the second instalment of their teenage festival dubbed SKYchella. The day festival will be held this weekend April 27, 2019 between 9am-3pm at Ba Isago University Hall, Block 7 in Gaborone.
Thousands of teenage girls are expected to come together to celebrate staying true to themselves and to express themselves through fashion, art, music, poetry and dance.
SKY Project Manager Tapiwa Mlambo said, “We are excited to bring the second instalment of SKYChella. At last year’s event over 2500 girls came out on the day, and everyone had a great experience. There are not many safe, fun and free experiences for young people so we are proud that we can provide that, and we want as many as possible to attend.”
Local celebrities and SKY ambassadors Sadi Dikgaka and Kefus Leo will be hosting the event alongside performances from both South African and local artists. South African musical sensation Sho Madjozi will headline the event with local performances from Vee, Casper the DJ, Ignor3d, Frost Legato and many more.
The event is free of charge, and for the safety and convenience of the audience, free transport will be provided from Rail Park Mall to the venue from 0830hrs. Activities lined up include dance classes, selfie booth, DIY clothes stall, natural hair and makeup tutorials, and games. Activities and refreshments will be available at no charge.
Mlambo further stated, “The event is free of charge, girls should not worry about spending money at the event. We look forward to showing everyone a good time and an ultimate SKY experience.”
As a way of enhancing the experience for the attendees, SKY will give 20 lucky teenage girls a VIP experience on the day. The lucky winners will have an all access VIP ticket, which will give them access to meet artists and celebrities for autographs and picture opportunities. The 20 golden VIP tickets will be won in a social media competition posted on SKY’s social media platforms.
