Candy Kgabi, moniker Sugarfoot, is an avid traveler with a passion for learning new cultures. While she was pursuing her studies in China, she fully immersed herself in the Asian culture.
It is from her experience there that she came up with the idea of starting her own travel vlog. A proud Motswana that would wear her traditional clothes to class, as well as teach other people from different nations the beauty that is Botswana, she decided to start filming her country and show it to the world through her YouTube channel, Real Sugarfoot. What do you like doing during your spare time?
I like to do a few stretches, maybe go into a yoga sequence, go have drinks with friends, sleep, read a book, but ever since I got Netflix, it’s my new favorite thing to do.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Definitely have to be Idris Elba. Have you seen that smile?
As I’ve gotten older, more and more people ask about my single status. I am happy, and I have love in my life, se segolo ke bophelo.
How would someone get your special attention?
There is no secret into how anyone would get my special attention, I am special, and so is the attention I give. Just be you.
What has been your best/worst date?
Best date, 28 February obviously, because that’s when I was born. Worst date, anything that falls on Friday the 13th. I believe in bad luck day.
Would you date a fan?
A fan? You mean the thing that blows air? Why would anyone date a fan? Ha-ha!
would you change your name to?
What’s in a name to be honest? I wouldn’t mind having any name, it’s about what the name carries. What you build as your legacy? So, whatever name it is that I have, I strive to make it one to be remembered.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
There are a few things I find particularly annoying, and most of them have to do with sound. The sound people make when they chew bothers me. The sound of a metal object on tarred road. Chalk on chalkboard. Styrofoam rubbing together. It’s a pretty long list.
What’s your worst annoying habit?
it’s my sarcasm, but I don’t think there’s anything annoying about it. Doesn’t
annoy me one bit.
Do you ever get used to being a celebrity?
I had to Google what a celebrity was in order to answer this, I don’t think I’m a famous person, important, maybe, (to my family of course) but a celebrity, no.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
My father. I’ve watched my father work day and night to get the best of everything for his family. I watch my father eat healthy, exercise, have a beautiful family, and I can’t stop but wonder how he manages all this especially having such a legendary daughter! Ha-ha.
Do you speak any language?
My mother tongue, Setswana, I speak English, and a bit of Mandarin. I would love to learn how to speak Swahili.
Where would like to visit?
As a traveler, there is no place I can say “I don’t want to go there”. There is beauty in every place traveled. I made a bucket list on my YouTube channel of places I’d like to go in 2019, so you can check that out. My ultimate place to go though, is between Ethiopia, rich history on Haile Selassie Empire, and Mali, to see the pyramids there.
If you were not famous what would you be up to?
I’m doing everything it is what I want to do if I were not famous.
Who is the messiest person you know?
Being messy is subjective, what’s messy to me, is poetic and free flowing to you.
What’s the most interesting thing you have read or seen this week?
It’s a Tuesday, the most interesting thing that I’ve seen this week is a video of a cat giving a hi5! I’m such a cat lover.

The positivity, laughs and smiles I bring, that’s what I want to be remembered about me.
