Gaborone,Botswana – First National Bank of Botswana (FNBB) will tomorrow host members of the media fraternity to the 4th installment of the Journalism Academy until 22nd February at Bluetree World of Golf in Gaborone.
Local journalists will undergo a 3-day workshop where they will receive intensive training on ‘Reporting Public Affairs in Botswana’. The workshop is part of FNBB’s continued efforts to impart skills that are crucial to the day to day work of journalists.
FNBB Communications and PR Manager, Boga Chilinde-Masebu said, “It is critical for media practitioners to acquire new skills that propel them to administer their obligation as the Fourth Estate and Watchdog on issues relating to public interest, citizen empowerment and economic development”.
She further added, “In their daily work, media practitioners act as a voice to the voiceless and their efforts are paramount to the development of our society and livelihoods of citizens at large. Reporters therefore need to stay ahead of issues relating to public policy implementation, accountability and governance.”
The Bank seeks to educate, stimulate conversations and provide a platform for the Fourth Estate to carry out relevant messages to a wider audience, spread information and share insights that will in turn empower the nation.
