Award winning Botswana gospel artist readies for Rwandan tour

Gaborone, Botswana: Botswana award-winning Gospel artist, Kabelo Eric is set to jet off to Kigali, Rwanda where he will tour the East African country this festive season following his new goal of taking his music across Africa and conquering the world. The Mathubudukwane-born artist has partnered with a Kigali-based promoter, Charles Shema with his tour of his fourth studio album titled ‘Take the Glory’ which is expected to start on December 24th until January 7th.

According to Eric, the tour will include a media engagement with various media outlets, performances as well as mall activations. “So far 3 main TV stations (authentic TV, RBA, and TV1) and 2 radio stations (Radio Ten, Radio One) have been confirmed to host us when we arrive there. The idea is to break into these platforms and get my music play in Rwanda rotationally. It will also be great for me to meet the rightful authorities so as to network and expand my career further. This will be my first international media and promotional tour in Rwanda and what a good time to visit the country whose economy has been steadily rising in Africa,” said Eric this week.

Eric who has in the past performed in the USA, said it will be his first time in East Africa and strongly admitted he bears no pressure since it is understood that Tswana gospel music is highly favoured in East Africa.

“I am excited. I know that gospel music from the Tswana speaking countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region is dearly loved in West and East Africa so it will be truly great to go market myself there too and high my country’s flag higher.” The self-sponsored artist further said that all travelling logistics are from his management.

For his part, and in an exclusive interview from Kigali, Shema said they have further engaged another renowned Rwandan gospel promoter to make the tour of their international artist (Eric) a success.

“Preparations are going well, we understand how Tswana gospel is received here in Rwanda. Besides the media engagement that is secured will go for at least 3 days to round up, Kabelo Eric has been booked to perform at a church and we are concluding two more bookings for his schedule. We have also engaged Eric Mashukano. He is one of the organizers of Groove Award Rwanda so his reputation is highly placed to position our artist in the rightful authorised personnel,” he concluded.
