Gaborone, Botswana – History will be made next week with the first-ever WWE pay-per-view event exclusively featuring women superstars. WWE Evolution takes place in New York on Monday morning with all four women’s championship belts on the line and a thousand thrills guaranteed. The action will be broadcast live on SuperSport 8 at 01:00 CAT and repeated in the evening at 19:00 CAT on SuperSport 9.
One of the bouts drawing mega-attention sees Raw women’s champion Ronda Rousey defending against Nikki Bella, who is threatening a “Bellalution”.
Even though the Bella twins earned back-to-back victories over The Riott Squad alongside the baddest woman on the planet, Nikki and Brie grew tired of sharing the spotlight with her, ambushing their supposed ally after their victory on the early October edition of Raw. With the battle lines drawn, fearless Nikki — with Brie almost assuredly in her corner — now looks to cool off Hot Ronda at WWE’s major women’s event.
Will the ultra-confident Nikki Bella take down The Rowdy One, or will she be forced to submit to Rousey’s notoriously deadly Armbar? Also on the card, SmackDown women’s champion Becky Lynch defends against Charlotte Flair in a last woman standing match.
For the last few weeks, the question has been whether Lynch or Flair is the better woman. At WWE Evolution, the fate of the SmackDown women’s championship will come down to a far simpler matter: whichever one is left standing.
The “Irish Lass Kicker” and the Flair heiress will do battle in the first-ever Last Woman Standing match at the historic event. In addition to the ever-escalating hostilities between Flair and Lynch, their title bouts at WWE Super ShowDown and the subsequent SmackDown Live ended in indecisive fashion. Flair won the first when Lynch got herself intentionally disqualified, and the second ended in a double-count-out brawl.
Flair got the last word in that confrontation by spearing Lynch through the LED board at the top of the ramp, but reclaiming the blue jewel of SmackDown Live won’t be so simple. A Last Woman Standing match can’t be won with a pinfall or submission; victory can only be attained by inflicting so much punishment on your opponent that they are unable to get to their feet before the count of 10. Flair should know better than anyone that Lynch has proven very difficult to keep down.
