After running various fusion projects and performing on stages in several countries, Bokang Proctor popularly known as BK Proctor to his legion of fans is a visionary musical entrepreneur, music producer, artist development consultant, arranger, and performer. Proctor’s artistic approach is solidly focused on incorporating a wide range of styles that include African, Hip-hop, RnB and soul. Born in Francistown, on June 20, 1985, BK Proctor is a God-fearing Christian and the country’s most sought-after producer, artist, sound engineer, voice-over artist, and lately he launched his new apparel line dubbed ‘Collections by BK’.
Over the past 10 years, BK Proctor has produced hit albums, songs and collaborated with some of the best artists in Botswana such as Vee Mampeezy, Stampore (RIP), HT, Maxy, Scar, Zeus, Brando, Vs. What do you like doing in your spare time?
I enjoy reading, sometimes I go through two books back-to-back. I’m currently fixated on ‘Soar! Build Your Vision from the Ground Up’ – a book by T. D. Jakes. That’s how I get my, me time.
Who is your celebrity crush?
The multiple award-winning American actress and singer, Anne Hathaway.
Are you single?
I am not single.
How would someone get your special attention?
By just being themselves. I see a lot of pretenders half the time in my line of work, so it would be nice if they could just be themselves. I just find beauty in the things that cost nothing.
What has been your best/worst date?
My best was when I took this girl for an adventure somewhere in the north and the worst was when we got back, she dumped me, Ha-ha! She’s married now and clearly shows it wasn’t meant to be and I dont regret it though.
Would you date a fan?
I doubt I would because I now know better and I have grown a little more wiser. I don’t recall if I have done it before and I can’t say either.
What would you change your name to?
I wouldn’t change it to anything because it’s my name given to me by my parents. A lot of people actually thought that I made it up but BK is an abbreviation of Bokang and Proctor is my authentic surname. It’s great as is.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Pretenders, with all that is happening all above our heads, the world would be a better place without such people.
What’s your annoying habit?
Not being comfortable to say NO. I sometimes find myself working underpressure because I just did not say “NO I CAN’T OR NO I WON’T BE ABLE TO.” However, I am working on it.
Do you get used to being a celebrity?
I view myself more as a storyteller than a celebrity and being creative make it more easy for me to tell and share these stories with my fans through my music, fashion and art. I am passionate and I really love what I do and it loves me back, that’s what I find the most pleasure in.
Who is your inspiration?
Musically, I would say Quincy Jones – the legendary American record producer, singer and film producer also known as “Q”, and the American fashion wise Rick Owens. He’s unique and has a different approach to fashion.
Do you speak any other languages?
Not fluently though, but I’m currently learning Mandarin Chinese because I will be staying in Asia soonest. Ha-ha. I’m kidding, I LOVE MY BOTSWANA.
Where would you like to visit?
Whitehaven Beach in Australia, It looks like such a peaceful place.
If you weren’t famous, what would you be up to right now?
If I wasnt being a creative, I think I would be a Psychologist. I like studying how people think, process and behave.

This question right here is the messiest. Ha-ha!
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?
In the book “Reposition Yourself: Living Life Without Limits” by T.D Jakes, I came across a line that says, “Faith Gives Us Patience”, and it surely got me thinking!
