Lovers of stand-up comedy will be treated to non-stop laughter this coming Thursday, April 26th at Multicuisine Restaurant, Zambezi towers in Gaborone featuring the country’s funniest acts. Hosted by Major Moves Comedy, the show has promised fans some healthy action night featuring Zimbabwe’s funny man, Clive Chigubu alongside Botswana’s funniest stand-up comedians.
The one-man stand-up comedy shows are a worldwide phenomenon, having launched many a career for stand-up comics internationally.
Clive who was a hit at the 4th & 5th Annual Heavyweight International Comedy Festival (HICOFEST) has been on the road with his one man. A raw gem from the City of Kings and Queens, he is one of the stand-up comedians that always stands out wherever he performs.
The Bulawayo-born and bred actor-cum-comedian has been nominated more than once for a National Arts Merit Award and has performed in South Africa, Kenya, UK and Swaziland just to name a few. It is his catchphrase “Ye Ye-e”, which has become his trademark and a hit with audiences.
The one-man comedy show is titled Asante Sana: Laugh After 37 years and was launched in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe featuring Major Moves Comedians Augustus Philemon and Katlo “KLo” Lekgowe.
The audience will be treated to too much hilarity and great silliness from the comedians while also enjoying a meal and beverage of their choice. Augustus is a Francistown based comedian who obtained third position at the 2017 President’s Day Comedy Competition finals.
He has recently performed internationally in Pretoria, South Africa where he managed to hold his own whilst delivering an outstanding performance. Other acts include Katlo ‘K-Lo’ Lekgowe from Kopong, who has recently performed in Windhoek, Namibia and will bring his clean, high energy, fun and clever comedy to the stage.
“We are excited to be hosting Clive who recently hosted our comedians in Zimbabwe. This event is another way to develop a different and alternative form of entertainment as well as get comedians active and at par with international acts. We will be giving comedians more time on stage and Clive will be doing a full set of his one-man show. We’ll also give stage time to unknown upcoming comedians as part of artist development and capacity building,” said events coordinator for Major Moves Comedy, Gaolathe Kediemetse.
The venue sponsor is Multicuisine Restaurant which is in the heart of the city at Zambezi Towers in the CBD.
“Multicuisine strives to satisfy each and every soul that steps into their restaurant with the best of quality and taste that leaves one with a lasting and intense food pleasure no matter which part of the world they are from,” read a communique from Major Moves Comedy.
Tickets for the event are available at Webtickets & Spar outlets and are priced from P150 single and P200 double. The show starts at 730pm sharp.
